THE NEW OLD CHURCH: Radical Traditionalism
Through the summer we are exploring, “The New Old Church!” When things are perceived as changing and often at a rapid pace, we often long for past times when things seemed simpler, clearer, easier to grasp. That includes often a longing for days gone by in the Church. We long for the “Old Days.” We want to go back to old traditions where we find security and comfort.
On Sunday mornings we are exploring the “Old Church” and considering how it can become the “New Church” for today and the future. However, we aren’t exploring the church of the 1950’s or 60’s – a time when our denomination thrived. We aren’t even exploring the traditions and heritage of our roots by listening to Martin Luther. Instead, we are practicing, “Radical Traditionalism” and exploring our birthplace – the Church of the first century. We are focusing on what the Acts of the Apostles from the New Testament have to offer us as we seek clarity and direction for how to be The Church and Church members in 2010 and beyond. Won’t you make it a priority to come and learn and reflect upon what it means to be:
“THE NEW OLD CHURCH WHICH IS: EMPOWERED / CALLED / SENT / IN UNITY / WITH PASSION / TO SHARE LIFE / WHILE BEING GOD-CENTERED”?
